The statement made by the Union of the Bar Associations of Turkey reads as follows: “We have written to the Presidency and the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and the relevant ministries in order to prevent the loss of rights of our colleagues within the scope of EYT.”
The Union of Turkish Bar Associations has written to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), the Strategy and Budget Board of the Presidency and the Legal Policies Board, the group presidencies of the political parties with groups in the TBMM, the General Directorate of Legislation of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, which is the main interlocutor of the issue, with the request of ‘eliminating the loss of rights of lawyers’ within the scope of the regulation known as EYT (Retired Lawyers).
As it is known, lawyers who worked under the Lawyers’ Community Insurance (4-a) in 1999 or before were compulsorily included in the scope of Bağ-Kur (4-b) with the law enacted on 01.10.2008. While the number of premium days that such lawyers had to pay in order to retire under 4-a was 5000 days, it increased to 9000 after the amendment, which caused loss of rights and victimization.
The statement made by the TBB reads as follows: “Since most of our colleagues cannot reach 9000 days despite having more than 5000 premium days, we have requested that the regulation known as EYT be made in a way to eliminate this victimization.”
